Well done to our award winners this week!!
Science Live!
Posted onWe took part in a brilliant event called ‘Science Live!’ organised by the Rediscovery Centre where we carried out some cool experiments. We learned about the amazing acids and bases, looking at their colour changing ability, messy
reactions and investigate how climate change is affecting our oceans.
We learned that red cabbage juice is a natural pH indicator, which means that it changes colour when you add a substance, depending on whether it is an acid or a base. The only thing we did not enjoy was the smell of red cabbage juice in the classroom!
Baking cookies
Posted onIn science this week we were looking at physical and chemical change. We decided baking cookies was the perfect way to explore this! Some of us have since tried baking them at home which Ms. Kidd was delighted to hear!
Drumming
Posted onDrumming workshop with Neil from Drum Nature.
Football and Games
Posted onAs a treat for working very hard the last few weeks we went to the pitch to play a game of football and some games. We had great fun! Well done to Amber for winning player of the match!
Book Club Groups
Posted onInstead of reading one novel as a whole class we tried something a bit different and have three ‘Book Club Groups’ in our class. Each group is reading a different book. The books we are reading are: The Secret Garden, Kick and The Breadwinner. We have enjoyed getting into our groups and discussing the books with one another!
The Solar System
Posted onWe were learning all about the solar system in Geography and Science last week. Check out our amazing art work which involved a variety of colour mixing and painting techniques.
Our Human Body Systems
Posted onWe have been learning all about the different systems of the human body. Our bodies really are amazing!
Experiment:
We carried out a science experiment that resembled our stomach. We cut up some fruit (the food in our stomach) and put it in a bag (our stomach). We then added some lemon juice (acid in our stomach) and mushed up the food a bit (muscles in our stomach).
Projects:
Each group had to create a project on a different human body system. We used lots of different materials to create our projects, gathered information from different sources and then presented the projects to the class. Don’t they look great?
